Board Member BioMichael L. WardBorn and raised in Eureka, California, Michael Ward attended public schools and graduated from Eureka High in 1963. He completed undergraduate work at California Baptist College in 1967. His graduate studies include a masters degree from Arizona State, two terms at Oxford University (Great Britain), a masters degree from Black Hills State University, a doctorate in educational leadership from the University of North Dakota and a post-graduate year at Harvard University.His career included teaching elementary school in Etna, California, serving as Director of Education for the United Tribes of North Dakota and as Director of Federal Programs on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. He also served as superintendent of schools on the Quinault Reservation in Washington, an elementary principal, assistant superintendent of schools and superintendent of schools in Cincinnati, Ohio. Dr. Ward is married to Dr. Marlene Ward and they have four children and seven grandchildren. Both are retired and living in northern California and western South Dakota. |
